Our VINEYARDS

For us, it’s simple: 95% of a wine’s quality is born in the vineyard – not in the cellar. That’s why our top priority is growing healthy, perfectly ripened grapes. No shortcuts, no compromises – just craftsmanship, time, and patience.

Since 2020, we’ve farmed our vineyards organically, and as of the 2024 vintage, our wines are officially certified organic. We work exclusively with natural plant protection and minimal intervention to maintain the ecological balance of each site.

“We want to make wines with soul – and that only happens in a vibrant vineyard.”

Michael Auer

Climate & Terroir

Carnuntum’s unique microclimate is shaped by the Danube and stark temperature shifts between day and night. These contrasts give our wines their crisp acidity and aromatic complexity. The region’s loess soils act like natural sponges, storing water and helping the vines stay nourished even through hot, dry summers – a key factor for ripening without drought stress.

A living ecosystem

Our vineyards are teeming with life. We plant  cover crops between the rows not only to prevent erosion, but also to create a welcoming habitat for insects, birds, and wild animals like hares. We don’t aim for manicured perfection – instead, we let nature take its course. That biodiversity keeps our soils healthy and alive. It’s all about balance: enough growth for protection, but not so much that the vines have to compete for water. Because water is everything.

Pruning with purpose

It starts in winter, with mindful pruning. No aggressive cuts – just careful guidance of the vine’s natural growth. It takes experience and intuition, and it lays the groundwork for quality.

In summer, protection becomes key. Gone are the days of fully exposing red grapes to direct sun. We leave more leaf canopy for shade, keeping the grapes cooler. The result? Less sugar, more freshness, better balance. Because great wine needs tension and structure – not just ripeness.
