Always Striving for PERFECTION
21. May 2025
Michael Auer is a winemaker with a vision. With his wife Carina, he has shaped their estate into one of the most respected wineries in Carnuntum.
For Michael, great wine is all about structure and harmony. His wines are never overworked, never heavy—they are focused, elegant, and full of finesse. He puts everything into the pursuit of perfection. The result? Wines with remarkable ageing potential—wines that evolve, shine with time, and offer lasting pleasure.
“It’s not about making a wine that simply impresses—it’s about creating one that brings joy, sparks curiosity, and stays vibrant.”
Michael Auer
The Auer winery is built on more than 150 years of family heritage. Originally a mixed farm with crops and livestock, it evolved over generations into a dedicated wine estate.

“I was 18 when wine took hold of me—and I’ve never looked back.”
Michael Auer
Michael began his journey in 2009 with just three hectares of vines – limited resources – but a strong sense of purpose. The cellar was basic, much of the work improvised, but with passion and persistence, he laid the foundation for something extraordinary. At the same time, he studied viticulture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. His first internship took him to a top winery, where he quickly became a key part of the cellar team.
His debut vintage in 2009 won a regional award—an early and unexpected success that confirmed he was on the right track. From there, the winery grew steadily—not only in size, but also in philosophy. Craftsmanship, respect for nature, and a deep commitment to quality became the cornerstones of his approach.
In 2017, Michael and Carina took a bold step forward with the construction of a new cellar—an investment that set the tone for the future. Today, they farm around 18 hectares and have earned a reputation well beyond Carnuntum for wines of character and class.
