Bon vivants, united by wine

Michael and Carina Auer are more than just names on a wine label – they are the heart and soul behind their estate. Michael brings the creative spark, while Carina provides the structure and public voice. Together, they form a dynamic team: complementing one another, pushing each other forward, and always pulling in the same direction.

“We met through wine, developed a shared vision, and built the winery together. Now it just feels like home.”

Carina Auer

The winged horse in their logo is taken from a 1577 edition of a book by the Roman poet Horace. Why a winged horse? It stands for creativity, freedom, and inspiration. Horace – who lived from 65 to 8 BCE – was a master of enjoying life’s pleasures in moderation. His famous quote “Carpe Diem”“Seize the day” – captures Michael and Carina’s philosophy perfectly. For Horace, indulgence meant savouring life’s beautiful moments – with intention and elegance.

Just as Horace expressed this joy in poetry, Michael and Carina capture it in every bottle. Their wines are a celebration of Carpe Diem – of living fully, without excess.

The couple are true bon vivants – lovers of good food, great wine, heartfelt company, and family time. That spirit is reflected in their wines: generous, characterful, full of warmth – always with an extra spark of life’s pleasures.

A note on hedonism: To some, the word may suggest excess – but its roots tell another story. Derived from the Greek hēdonē (pleasure, delight), it simply means the pursuit of enjoyment. Not indulgence for indulgence’s sake, but a conscious appreciation of what makes life rich. And what better companion for those moments than a great glass of wine?
