Rubin Carnuntum 2022
Region
Around 90% of the grapes for this wine come from Höflein, primarily the vineyards Scheibner, Auweg, and Steinriegel – making it, in essence, our village wine. The warm, sandy soils with high limestone content encourage early budbreak and quick soil warming, creating the foundation for balanced ripening. This Zweigelt delivers juicy cherry fruit, smooth tannins, and well-integrated acidity. It’s powerful yet elegant – an authentic expression of Carnuntum and a proud ambassador of the region.

Harvest & Vinification
Zweigelt grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented in open vats after destemming. Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately – typically 10 to 15 lots per vintage – allowing us to fully explore the nuances of each site. Maturation takes place exclusively in small, used oak barrels. The final cuvée is carefully composed from these lots to achieve a seamless balance of elegance and structure. After 18 months of ageing, the wine is bottled.
Vintage 2022
Following a winter with standard moisture levels and a changeable spring, budbreak and flowering were slightly delayed but within the norm. A dry summer was tempered by well-timed rainfall before harvest, helping to maintain freshness and acidity. Moderate yields led to wines of great finesse and structural clarity. 2022 is a vintage that promises both early drinking pleasure and excellent ageing potential.
