Welschriesling 2025
Region
These 38-year-old vines in Carnuntum tell the story of one of Austria’s most traditional grape varieties. Most of the grapes are sourced from Ried Scheibner – a steep, north-facing vineyard with limestone-rich soils that enhance nutrient uptake and vine vitality. Complementing this are grapes from the more vigorous, lower-lying soils of Ried Bühl. The result is a beautifully balanced wine with freshness and finesse.

Harvest & Vinification
Spontaneously fermented, this Welschriesling is juicy and lively, with signature peppery spice and a well-defined acidity. After a maceration time of 3–6 hours, fermentation takes place at 19–20 °C. The wine then rests for four months on the full lees in stainless steel before being bottled in February.
Vintage 2025
After a dry winter, steady rain from April created ideal conditions for growth. By harvest, the vines had replenished around 80% of their water reserves. Budburst in mid-April narrowly avoided frost, with Carnuntum unaffected. As in recent years, summer brought intense heat, and harvest began around August 20. Small, flavour-packed berries defined the vintage. Overall, 2024 is reminiscent of the standout 2018 vintage – but with even better water supply.
