Ried Bühl 2021
Region
Ried Bühl, located just south of Höflein, is characterized by deep loess layers. This calcareous dust, deposited during the cold phases of the Ice Age and originating from the Alpine region, now forms a loamy-sandy, calcareous soil that excels in water retention and offers a well-balanced mineral composition. The vineyard has been historically recorded since 1864 and is oriented towards the northeast, with some parts facing south. The terroir is ideal for creating wines with both power and finesse, rooted in its rich, complex soil.

Harvest & Vinification
The best grapes from Ried Bühl are carefully hand-picked, then destemmed and fermented spontaneously in open vats. The fermentation process is slow and natural, allowing intracellular fermentation to develop. The grapes macerate for 3 to 4 weeks, with gentle processing to keep the berries intact. During the primary fermentation, the mash is punched down twice daily. After pressing, the wine matures in French oak barrels, with 50% aged in new oak. After 18 to 20 months of maturation, the wine is bottled. The result is a refined Zweigelt, with delicate tannins and a silky, smooth texture – a wine to truly fall in love with.
Vintage 2021
2021 was a year of harmony and perfection. Despite a mixed spring, with little winter moisture and an early budburst, the season from early summer onward provided optimal conditions, with rainfall and sunshine occurring at ideal intervals. Harvest began in early September under perfect conditions, with all varieties showing exceptional acidity structure and complete physiological ripeness. 2021 is undoubtedly one of the great vintages, producing wines of remarkable elegance, balance, and finesse.
